GORP

GORP (otherwise known as trailmix) has long been a Guiding and Scouting tradition. GORP is designed to be a lightwieght and healthy snack to take along on hikes.

Traditionally it was made with raisins and peanuts, however today it can be made with any combination of items that will give you a much needed energy boost halfway through your hike. GORP can be stored in an air tight container for a week.

For our recent Enrolment Ceremony, we adapted a Girl Scout GORP ceremony found on Becky's Guider Resource. Here's the recipe we used:

2 Cups of Shreddies (because we promise to be fair and square) 1 Cup of Smarties (because we are sisters to Girl Guides and Girl Scouts all around the world)

2 Cups of Pretzel Sticks (because some of us are tall)

1 Cup of Mini Marshmallows (and some of us are small)

2 Cups of Popcorn (because we can be corny and love to make others smile)

2 Cups of Cherrios (because we are well rounded)

1 Cup of Raisins (because we raise other people's spirits through community service)

1 Cup each of Teddy Grahams & Animal Crackers (because we pledge to protect our environment and all of the animals that live there)

1 Cup of Chocolate Chips (because we are chips off the old block. We are are proud of our past and proud to be part of the future)

When you mix all of the ingredients together you end up with something pretty special: A new Girl Guide.
